I purchase these magnets to use for tilt-turn targets but did not realize the tread was too small (5/16")

I can't find a 5/16" female to 5/8" male thread adaptor. Is there a manufacturer that makes these?

Not an ideal solution, but you can use two thread adapters such as these to get from 5/16-18 to 5/8-11

If you don't want the locking compound it scrubs off with warm soapy water. Did not check the cheaper black oxide versions, but there may be some options there.

You could also go to a bolt place like fastenal, they should have that kind of stuff in stock so you can put your hands on it.
On a side note, I just scanned the McMaster facility in 2020.
