1. 2D Cad drawings - plans, sections, Isopachytes etc.
2. 3D Models in acad format.
3. Data derived from scanner in text report or tabular format.
4. Pointcloud Data,
5. Screenshots (usually to show job progress or illustrate scanner capabilities to prospective client).

The above in order of popularity. By far the most common output is 2D CAD dwgs.

Exactly we produce accurate 3D pointclouds and sometimes all they ask for is the 2D information. We need to educate clients more on the advantages of this technology.

Couldn't agree more. We spend all that time and effort collecting fantastic 3d data in high resolution to then degrade the data dramatically to produce a 2D vector drawing.

Most clients don't understand (or are scared of) 3D.

I am thinking off asking some software people to bundle their point cloud viewers together with the data already attached internally so when a client loads some software it opens the point cloud, put this on a DVD and tell them to have the function of zoom, rotate, etc and even measure a few dims and take a few co-ordinates then this will be an easy piece of software we could send to clients. It even would be nice to include elevation views then have the option to import 3D CAD data but at a cost maybe then it would be beneficial to the software people. Even if the software cost a small amount each time to us this would still be profitable for each save or something like that. I just think the software that's out there is too hard for clients to open an start using straight away. It needs to be very user friendly.

Leica Truview is very good for this sort of stuff and you can even view this over the net!
