That is a good scan. Is it from 3 set ups? and how long did that take to do?

Me and Mark are always amazed by the speed of the data capture of this equipment as you already know.

Was this façade scanned using high or ultra-high on the HDS6000?

We thought that this would have taken us over half a day to scan using our HDS3000 but I suppose the clients deliverables dictate the resolution of the scan, which in turn effects the scan time on site. For producing elevations we tend to scan using a 10 to 15mm resolution to capture all the details.

Phil

You are right to be amazed I am also shocked when ever I use it.

I scanned it on high as ultra-high is just a daft amount of data.

If this was done for a job I think that I would have done maybe 2 additional setups and restricted the range of the scanner.

My personal prefreance would have been to use a ScanStation2 and done only 3 set ups. The time lost in the data collection is gained in the control as you would only need two control points and the registration is much quicker, You still need to look at the diliverables and use the apropriate equipment.

Steve,
I was interested to see that you would have used the slower Scan Station...do you save that much time in target aquiring and office registration?

I can see your point Mark the Scanstation 2 takes 50,000 points a second and the HDS6000 takes 500,000 points per second which is 10 times faster on site at collecting data but is that time lost by having to register this data in the office.
