ZFC to IMP - import into Cyclone v7

Post by rpopa » Wed Sep 16, 2015 7:16 am

Hello,

I am newbie into scanning import/ conversion and I need some help, please.

we have received a scan in ZFC format and would like to import it into Cyclone v7. Is there any way to convert the ZFC files to IMP in order to do this? In the received scan we there are ZFC files, PNG files, one LFD file, one LFR file. The issue is that I got no documentation of what was used to generate the scan or which software is needed to open them.

Thank you!

Hi,
Why do you need to do the step 4? converting to Enhanced working format?

Hello and thank you for the answer! After opening the ZFC in Cyclone I can see the cloudpoints, but not the PNG images ( only the scanned frame is visible). Is there anything I should add/import in order to see the pictures as well?

There are around 500 ZFC files. Can they be grouped into 100 sets and generate an *.IMP for each set? If yes, then how, plsease?

And in order to only view the scans what software can be used?

Regards!

As far as I know, they only format that can be used to transfer image data is e57. Can you save the project you have to e57 from whatever software it is living in?

If your .ZFS point cloud files already colorized in ZF control, then when you import it to Cyclone you should see the RGB value in point cloud.
But I would love to find a way to see the panorama images took by ZF scanner in Cyclone not just the colorized point cloud.

By the way instead of importing the All .ZFS file one by one you can import the .zfprj to import all scans at once just remember to check the "estimate normals"

So why is Cyclone or other software (Realworks, Scene, ReCap) not importing the images? E57 is good but the photos are useless as we don't have a way to utilize them in other software.

Does anyone know a software which will take the photos from a E57?

Thanks

Hi Radu,

The .ZFC and .LFD files you have are to be used in LFM software. You can use them directly in LFM and don't need to convert anything.
If you contact support@lfm-software.com or licence.request@lfm-software.com then someone will be able to speak to you regarding using these files.
From reading your post it seems like you're using the point cloud in a CAD design system. LFM supports Autodesk, Bentley, AVEVA, Intergraph and Siemens so my recommendation would be for you to try and use the formats you have already in the most efficient way.

FYI the photo realistic panorama images (BubbleViews) are maintained in LFM software so if these are important to you I'd definitely recommend a trial of the software.
I've let the support team know to expect an email from you. I won't ask for you to publish your contact details here.

Kind regards,
Martin
