SD Chip, What's the largest size memory for a FARO S350

What the most amount of memory on a SD chip will a FARO FOCUS S350 Scanners access?
I've use 32GB now, but using the FARO SWIFT mobile system I would like to increase the storage capacity for larger jobs.

Will a 64GB or 128GB work ok and will the S350 be able to use all that memory?

We use 64GB cards in an S150.

SDHC or SDXC cards are highly recommended.
Memory cards with a size up to 64 GB have been verified to operate with the scanner. The speed of the card must be Class 10 or better.
The SD card must be formatted in the FAT-32 file system. Although there are many ways to format memory cards, the most reliable way is to use the scanner's Format menu function (Manage > Service > SD Card > Format).

Hey Paul, I tried a 128MB card for the same reason as you, and nope, it did not work. So I just have 3-4 64GB cards.
I think what you also need is more Scanplan batteries.. that thing drains so fast.

I just bought a 2nd one of these huge batteries that have a built in inverter.

I put this in the basket on the trolly and run the charger with it connected to the ScanPlan.

This keeps that power hungry ScanPlan running for about 4 hours.

It takes a long time to recharge so I just bought a 2nd one today. $299 on Amazon. I'll have it tomorrow.

We have been using the SanDisk Extreme PRO 64GB Class 10 SDHC based on FARO's recommendation. Most of ours are the 170MB/s and 200MB/s but they go up to 300MB/s now.

Final blunt answer, 64gb is the limit.

Then to add to this, you do not want 64gb+ sd cards. You do not want to have more than 40gb+ on that sd card even, it makes the scanner slow. Even if you had a 256gb sd card, there is a diminishing return at some point and having to many scans on one SD card slows down menu handling on the scanner. I would say use 64gb sd cards with high read/writte speed but make sure that everyday the scanners have a fresh format.

With a 64gb sd card you can store up to roughly 300 scans+. Currently no way this can be achieved in a full day of scanning.

Backup your scans every night on your laptop + an external storage. Having 2 backups is just safe, do you really want to re scan a whole day for a dead ssd in your laptop?
