Issue 1440 - Focus S70

Hello guys

I have Faro focus S70 scanner (one year)
Today after few scans I got the 1440 Error. After I looked in the forum I tried to change SD card, factory settings and Check for updates.

There is more options to check? I cant work right now

We just had this on our S70. Almost 2 years old, less than 400 scans on it. Tried a new SD card, formatted it and tried to update the firmware (failed). Ended up having to send it away to Faro. My old x330's went for years without any issues, thousands and thousands of scans. Not very happy with the situation, as I have been nothing but gentle with it. Just rotten luck I suppose?

This can mean lots lots and lots of different things.
No changing sd card never fixes this.
These cameras are very precious tools and any minor impact can change things inside. If you ever get this error stop what you are doing and restart the scanner. If restarting the scanner does not work then yes you need to have it serviced.
Sometimes the scanner will work at slower settings (for example 1/4 3x will work but not 1/4 1x).
Most of the time when you see this it is not good news, but if restarting the scanner makes it go away you might be in luck and it will be fine. IMO this comes from hazardess handling of the scanner when its in the box.

These faro's are built in flimsy cases. The slightest thing causes damage.

What happens is that myself as a one man shop, treat all with care but companies where a few people use them just don't care that hard. Especially normal employees.

You see this hapening with builder levels, these bloody things are always in for repairs or calibration because they don't get the treatment they deserve.

I'm not sure a more robust case would spare any delicate scanner electronics. Otherwise I agree with what you've written--one must take excellent care of their precision instruments for them to perform accurately day after day, year after year.

My riegl is in a full alu machine housing. No plastics about, all in this solid housing.
