I just cought a new employee rotate the mirror when the scanner was on to clean the lense. I know we should not do this and I put the scanner back in the box, we have 2 other scanner on site to finish the job.
My question is what actually happens when someone does this? Is the scanner automatically out of calibration?
New employee told me he did that all the time at his old firm and never had issues but it just seams so wrong to me having that resistance when the scanner is on, this has to damage the gears or everything is magnets and nothing bad happens to the scanner?
Moving Faro S mirror when scanner is ON, how bad is it?

I have seen the floppy mirror issue before. Nothing wrong with the data from what I saw, but it was not an exhuastive calibration test. Unit was repaired under warranty shorty after we noticed it.
