Faro remote - proof of concept

Faro remote - proof of concept
I have issues with my telephone with the wireless gui, so I decided to adapt some of my side projects to have a mechanical faro remote.
It's simply based on an RC transmitter-receiver combination and a servo.
Both parts work with a protected lithium battery, single cell.
The ugly setup is a combination of 3d printed parts, hot glue, duct tape and skewer pieces.
Seeing that it works next step will be to design and print a nicer and more stable adapter.

Zip ties show the spark of the genius.. and light the path
With my phone the wifi interface is not reliable at all.
In place of an RC chain it would be possible to use yet another wifi, or the bluetooth, but this looks to me like a much cleaner solution.
The trasmitter is a full range RC, so few 100s of meters:

While it declares a 6-15V range it works with a single Li cell, at 3.7V, and even below. I have to test it full range to verify if the lower voltage affects it, in that case a 2s LiPo battery would be an alternative.

I like it!!
For the moment I opted for a simpler solution. No more duct tape, still some hot glue.
WIth the new solution the remote fits the scanner and is very stable, a 1 second setup single handed.
I have to integrate a power switch and the battery charger.

Got to thank you for your contribution. We ran into some serious Wifi connectivity issues on a recent project where a cell tower that was very near to our work area prevented activation of scanning through wifi, but our Robot's RC transmitter and receiver was working flawlessly.
We simplified things a bit and used a tiny nano receiver and micro servo powered from the micro usb port on the scanner, so we don't have to worry about a secondary battery.
