New Version of Cyclone 2022.0.0 & Reg 360 2022.0.0 released

Post by gsisman »

New Version of Cyclone 2022.0.0 released with accompanying Reg 360 2022.0.0

This is a few days old but we just got the email from our HDS support.

Going to load it on my back up machine and test it before making any major production change. I saw to many glitches in the Pre-release to trust that they had been worked out in time to meet some stockholders release goal date

Saw these major additions looking through the release notes
https://www.screencast.com/t/Xw0k6mGD

BTW just by looking at the release notes you can see where Leica Development time is being invested
13 pages for Cyclone Core
59 pages for Register 360

You guys that run Cyclone core and not just Reg360 (most of you that are Leica System users); better take a look at pages 8-13 of the KNOWN ISSUES in this "Beta-0.0 First Release"

And on this particular point, the conversation when it comes to CCP renewal for Model is getting increasingly difficult.

At the rate they are going. charging maintenance on Model in my opinion is unconscionable - this has been weighing on my mind for at least two renewals now.

Exactly. I'd rather have another Register licence in the office so we can register simultaneously than having a Model licence that does nothing but help us clean point clouds.

here is a straight link, but i always just loop find the installers on the online site open up a random file then it goes to the filetree, where you can find the latest stuffs.

https://hexagondownloads.blob.core.wind ... 0Notes.pdf

i went to download the reg360 release note which links is not updated since last year on the main website, but after you download it will let you just walk away on the folder structure.

Adam

Thanks for the links- I think I might have stumbled upon this a while back but I'll bet it is faster than My World. When I followed the tree though I couldn't find the 2022 version unless it was mislabeled with 2020.1 . Our US Support has begun to send us out emails now with links to US FTP site that is much faster than the MyWorld one.
I've noticed that o the MyWorld Site the shell zip files are not always named up to date with the latest release that is zipped inside.
Also for the last 3 years + they have been putting CLM version 1.8.1 instead of 1.8.3000.3 that we've been using since that one they package caused problems with our Jetstream License years back. There seems to be all kinds of license server modules running around.
I did see a software called Spider. I wonder if that is the another version of the RTN network software that was the pre-curser to SmartNet. That's what they were calling it back in the day when I worked for Leica.
Anyway, I'm fully loaded with the new software-albeit not on my beefiest machine but testing to see if I can reconnect a v2022.0 Fast archive to a v2021.1.2 version which we are currently using (which as you've stated has many bugs.
It looks like it has done it on my workstation- but when I check the projects it shows it connected to the one on the NAS
https://www.screencast.com/t/di9gcBc0o9g

I "RECONNECTED" to one on my 2nd HDD drive- LOCAL, and then I intended to move it to the NAS,
I had previous de-activated & Disconnected the previous version job (Partial) that was on the NAS (With the same encrypted folder name as the newer merged one.)
The reconnect seemed to pick up the NAS one-or it is reporting it wrong
https://www.screencast.com/t/ndr3GaIUXOwy
I Shut it down and restarted it thinking it didn't refresh it or something, but It definitely Picked up the old one because I had a different thumbnail on the new one https://www.screencast.com/t/fnob1AeA

This time I "Hid it from the DB link pointers in an alpha named folder (Similar to the Fast Archive) https://www.screencast.com/t/8nZSoQvh
Opening up Reg360 I saw there was no link (as what usually happens when we have two workstations working alternatively on a big scan and have to constantly reconnect when we switch technician station working on the NAS)- Lo and Behold, it now saw the D-Drive version that it had indicated it WAS connected to-Activated it and it showed up on my Opening Pallette
https://www.screencast.com/t/hqojlIUzAy
https://www.screencast.com/t/KQTRx45YMvTy
It wouldn't recognize the structure that was performed in v2022.0 (Joining the above and below ground level of the garage-so I will resort to Archiving an *RAF file overnight and then do a LOOONG import into v2021.1.2 to see if it recognizes it that way-this bug on the windshield thing stinks.
This is the v2022.0 Project 52 setups 65GB -Which their was a way to compress the DB once you got your cleaned points finalized, but at this point I don't think there is a way to shrink the Project DB outside of exporting and then re-importing. (Again, only a function of Cyclone Core- protect the grandfather SW) Come on Leica, get with the times- your playing a 1990's Eaglepoint software game! ) ya got us by the shorthairs!

Well i don't remember that the release note says that it is not backward compatible with 2021 releases., but what you do is not proper.

Reg360 cannot differentiate the same project but different source directory what reg360 does is just loop through every connected folder and tries to find a directory with the proper GUID named folder if that finds it then it uses that. End of story.

So if you have multiple connected folder with the same project then it is very luck based which is used... what you usually do is a slow and not safe process... don't recommend this way. The best solution is to have different server database for every single project and just use move them to the proper location if somebody wants to open that project. If he/she is done then move back the server db to the nas, in a directory so they can know it is free to open (because there is a a serverdb file for that project). I just wanted to ask isn't it slow to open register 360 where there are a lot of connected project? Because it was in the older releases.

We do it like this 2 years ago. And had no problems at all, there is no reconnect/fast archive/archive time. Even for projects with more then 1000 setup.

Adam,

You are correct about the GUID in the Work Storage directory. And I discovered that one project from one directory "MASKING" another identical GUID but unmerged project in another directory.
We did what you are describing for 2 years before they came out with the "RECONNECT" feature. We swapped ServerDB's on the NAS constantly using the method you described. The RECONNECT feature was a direct outcome of not wanting to do that with multiple workstations of Reg 360 and ONE master storage directory on the NAS. The first version took forever because it would read and connect every project in the folder. We were not sure which REG360 project items were stored in WHICH serverDB several years ago (The local PROGAM DATA ServerDB or the Project folder ServerDB), but you couldn't keep a resident ServerDB (the one in the Program Data fiolder) tied to one machine. Now you can.
The RECONNECT allows you to reconnect the project you want to work in on workstation A that had been disconnected by a technician last working on the same project on Workstation B. And by highlighting the UNCONNECTED projects in the directory in Red it allows you to choose the project/s that you want to reconnect. That is our workflow. If you move the GUID ID folder out of the Working Storage into an Alpha identifiable Folder it breaks the link pointers in the ServerDB (Project Library DB) and allows you to remove it from the Project library (Removing the DB line from the ServerDB NOT deleting the project which has already been moved (Similar to the FAST ARCHIVE).
I agree it is slow to open when you have a lot of connected files, but they don't have to be all activated, which speeds things up

Any way just started to wend my way through the EXTENSIVE release notes and hit this paragraph that makes this update worth it just for this one items but there are many more enhancements. UNSTRUCTURED DATA FULLY SUPPORTED
