Re: BLK360 Download Cable
Leica a BIG marketing machine wants money for every upgrade or support..
I was wondering why Riegl or Z+F that are trusty companies did not make a small and light scanner.

Well… BLK2GO supports USB-C data transfer via BLK Data Managerbadam wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:52 ami can understand that part because the whole datamanager is network based. And with usb only you can damage the blk with a wrong machine or wrong cable instead the network is data only unless you plug in a poe cable but that can only damage the dongle. i like the solution if this is only a simple usb dongle.markscan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:40 amI really want to understand one simple thing: why ethernet and not native USB data transfer?LeicaUK_RC wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:20 am The latest Leica BLK Data Manager (2021.2.1) and BLK360 FW (2.1.0) now supports a cabled data download option...

Re: BLK360 Download Cable
that is a bummer does it mean that they changed something internally and only the "new" devices gets this feature ours is 3503825.dhirota wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 9:25 pm Here is the support response
"
1.3 Requirements for direct LAN communication
All BLK360 sensor with a serial number of 3507273 or higher do support the LAN cable feature.
All BLK360 devices supporting the LAN communication, will be delivered without the USB-C plug cover.
Older devices with a serial number lower than 3507273 do not support that feature and could get
seriously damaged if used anyway in this setup. The repair of these damages are not covered by
warranty. The BLK360 USB-C plug cover must only be removed by Leica service.
1.4 LAN upgrade kit for Leica BLK360
Leica BLK360 devices with a serial number lower than 3507273 can be upgraded to support the LAN
feature. Service news will be available with details on the upgrade process."
LGS SHOULD UPGRADE ALL THE BLK360s, SINCE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PART OF THE ORIGINAL DESIGN.
does somebody have a "newer" version in this topic?

Re: BLK360 Download Cable
Yeah, that's because they got their butt kicked on the BLK360 WIFI only transfer mode they started with before they started multiplying the BLK360 form factor into other products (BLK Security, BLK2GO).markscan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 9:32 amWell… BLK2GO supports USB-C data transfer via BLK Data Managerbadam wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:52 ami can understand that part because the whole datamanager is network based. They did learn, but didn't change the root product, which is still the lightest little cool scanner you can have (Although a flat black scanner outside in the sun in summer is a bummer, but I supposed it was made only looking at quick imaging INSIDE for low dollars. Wonder why no adjustment was made to the newer models of the BLK360. Anybody have a fairly new one (post 2020?)
*****EDIT, just saw Dennis's earlier mention-I'll be calling about "The Kit" (Most likely a couple $k's "upcharge" for the users that "Kick-started their BLK business.....smh)
That alone would sell l more of those IMHO. Or a mode in the Field 360 App that would allow you to still set and adjust the internal scanner settings in the field-but maybe not have to download to iPAD (Which we do sometimes. If I cou.ld choose choose to direct the selected scan stations out to a USB key through the USB-C Port (that is used only for maintenance now???) Do it Leica, the world would appreciate it. I love piecing together our BLK360 data to make sure we're covered before going to the office and have enough data to align and file the work area-but it is a waste of time to download the entire bundle through Wifi and depending on your network requirement/security most of the time we can connect Lightening Ethernet from iPAD to internal network. We also like the *.BLK Raw archives-can't get it through the iPAD..

Re: BLK360 Download Cable
Wonder if you can download USB3 to Lightning or usb3 in iPAD pro's. I'll have to ask about this. Not sure it would be faster than the Wifi BLK to iPAD but I'll bet it would .

This is all disappointing to hear. I have been chatting with the Western US Rep Kate Morris and was about purchase, but these types of business practices have made me take a step back.
