Trustworthy Sellers of Leica RTC360?
Hi,
I'm considering purchasing a Leica RTC360 either new or possibly second hand and have noticed its fairly straightforward to purchase this new but having a hard time finding any trustworthy sellers of used RTC360 scanners. There seems to be quite a few sellers in Singapore for example but I've checked with some of these and the address given is not legitimate, not to mention the prices given are very low, with some of the listings not having changed in ages. Cant seem to find any local Australian sellers of second hand laser scanners and willing to look further afield as an option. I didn't realise this was a minefield of laser scanner providers online I had to check through
Does anyone know of where a second hand Leica RTC360 scanner may possibly be available from a legitimate seller? Anyone purchase second hand and had a good experience? Thanks.
Some of the online sellers I have noticed to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:
https://line-surveying.com/laser-scanne ... ner-bundle US $40,000
https://3dscannertech.com/used-3d-scanners - US $48,000
https://surveyingmile.com/3d-laser-scanner
https://califfsurveying.com/product/leica-rtc360 US$58,000 NEW
https://echosurveying.com/3d-laser-scan ... er-scanner US$54,500 NEW
https://www.nusahendheld3d.com/3d-laser ... ner---sale US$24,800
http://www.totalstationmarket.com/produ ... anner-kit/ US$26,000

Only ever buy from a trusted Leica Reseller for peace of mind and a Leica warranty (CCP). I am sure CR Kennedy might have used/ex-demo units if you contact them. Speak to Gregg Franz in your region to guide you accordingly. You can email him using: [email protected]
Anything under $40k (for used) sounds like a total con to me... IMHO. Also, as stated above, you need a warranty on any scanning device because if something goes wrong, you do not want a large bill to repair - this is the same for any brand.

+1 CR Kennedy (my ex employer)
They sell new units, but also have a good idea of the second hand market in Australia.
They have just appointed a new National Scanning Manager, Joel Woodage who is in the Perth office in Western Australia.
Joel replaces John Reddington who has just retired (to enjoy a long, well deserved kitesurfing holiday around Australia )
Mike.

Again, check with CR Kennedy, they are your best bet.
Also, avoid the Singapore sellers, there was a thread on this forum a while back where I think someone 'purchased' what they thought was a scanner and lost a large amount of money from a Singapore based seller.

I just had someone in my company link me a GPR he wanted to purchase from one of the site you posted. Most of those sites are scam. A good way to check this is to google the website and add words such as "is this website a scam" and you would most likely find a website with helpfull reviews about scam stories for all those.

Hi Liandre,
I did try that. Some sites don't bring up any search results that would alert you that they are in fact a scam unfortunately, likely in part because survey equipment and laser scanners in particular are a relatively niche product so don't attract as much attention. Its really down to good old fashioned common sense to stay away. Hopefully the more this is discussed will help raise awareness.

Check out Z+F Scanners before your purchases. In my experience having GREAT TECH support, where you can get an answer from knowledgeable real-world experts within hours. Is the most important factor in any LASER SCANNER Purchase. ( I have been scanning since 2009, and use Z+F, Leica, NDI, Hexagon, Romer and DotProduct instruments) --- I highly recommend Z+F. Agents in Australia are (and they are slightly less expensive) (Z+F also do second-hand factory refurbished units(with warranty I think)) - https://www.positionpartners.com.au/

Z&F have always made great 3D scanners, they are even better now that they have got rid of the Leica Badge
