RTC360 Not so great really
Now that I have been processing some data from the several RTC360's that we have, I'm starting to think it's actually not so great.
Raw file sizes are way to big! Mostly down to the so called HDR images. Leica have said - new software will fix this with smaller files (compressed by 3x).
Importing data! 10 minutes per scan and that's a low res scan. Leica have said - new software will fix this.
Images! they look absolutely terrible. pastel shades, jagged edges. My phone 5 years ago took better pictures. Leica have said - new software will fix this.
Register 360! maybe it's because I'm a stuck in the mud Cyclone user. But 360 seems a bit pants (especially if you have used Scene2019). Leica have said - new software will..... (notice a theme here).
I stopped using Leica stuff when I left my last company. I was a bit of a Leica fan having used their stuff since around 2002. The Cyrax2500, HDS3000, ScanStation, ScanStation 2, C10, P20, P40. All truly great stuff. Then the BLK came along. No need to talk further on that...
Then the RTC360. Was this going to be the scanner that healed the wounds left by the BLK. I really hoped so.
RTC360's impressed everyone here, at least those not processing the data (everyone but me). I admit I fell for the same old hype about the scanner, speed, registration on the fly, great! Those things are great. 500gb of data a day on two scanners running simultaneously... great.
I moved away from Leica at the company I now work for. We had been using Faro scene 2018/19. I hated it at first, but then grew to really like the software and the workflow. It's so intuitive and easy to use.
I'm actually thinking that Faro Scene 2019 is streets ahead of where Cyclone or Reg360 are right now. But as we have bought in to the RTC360 I really hope that Leica up their game a bit.

We compared the Faro S150 and the RTC360, and went with the Faro.
That said, we still prefer full fat Cyclone for registering, and I much prefer Cloudworx for AutoCAD over Recap.

I'm with you on Cloudworx.
Just before writing this. I imported another small RTC360 job. And what do you know, it's pissed as a fart.

Re: RTC360 Not so great really
I don't want to promote anything but I really think ZF5016 and ZF Control and Scout is really better in many aspects:
Scan resolution 'Superhigh' quality 'Normal is about 300 mb (ZFI,101mb,ZFS 190 mb and JPG pano is 15mb)
Scan resolution 'High' quality 'Normal' is about 291 mb ! (ZFI, 102 mb, ZFS 177 mb and pano JPG 17mb)
360 m Range, GPS, IMU, Barometer, integrated LED light, Survey grade compensator, All sort of filters including the double scans for moving object removal.
The only thing that ZF lacks is the wide network of dealers. well this is my humble opinion.

Re: RTC360 Not so great really
I love what faro did to Scene lately, it is such an amazing software, together with the S series they are the perfect combination, I recently purchased Faro As-Built and i am impressed. The only drawback is the lack of Cadworx and Bricscad support.

I've heard of the issues with the raw file size but hadn't heard anything about the importing time issue you mention here. Mind elaborating on your workflow for importing the data as I am currently looking at which scanner to purchase.
Also would you have an example of the image issue as well, would be interested to see what it looks like.
