BLK intensity scan only

Post by manth0r »

Hi,

Has anyone tried to perform BLK scans without images?
I use this scanner in specific area and intensity scan is enough. Turn off images would speed up scanning works.

If they haven't changed anything, it should not be possible to turn off the images. It's either grayscale or RGB but it will take photos everytime before scanning.

As far as I remember if you turn the images off you will default to a greyscale scan on the iPAD (ReCAP Pro) -it doesn't transfer the pictures- not sure if you can turn images off in the BLK360 App, but you can set a delay for the push button scans (Which is NOT available in ReCAP Pro Mobile). I saw this feature also in Cyclone Basic seetings of the BLK, but NOT in the BLK Data manager. The benfit is that you can perform a push button scan on an elevated tripod and still have time to elevate the scanner before it starts its process and NOT have to control it and wait for scan transfer to the iPAD

BLK360 will always capture images. Cannot turn it off in BLK Download Manager.

I just got info from my reseller, that there is expected update with BLK firmware and it's possible to add this function (photos turn off). There is nothing certain for now, but many users are requesting this functionality.

Originally you could do this, but they have done a beautiful update to remove this functionality.

One thing to note, the level in the blk works while the BLK is taking imagery. So the two go hand in hand. I assume this is why they make the imagery mandatory.

My preference would be to take an unlevel BW scan as needed. just issue a warning to the users via the ipad. BUT perhaps this causes issues with the quality of the scan (not just the level)??

You can do that from the Recap App on the Ipad
I am using a lot when scanning in total darkness, like inside industrial silos. RGB would be useless as it is totally dark inside the scan area.
It does make the scan operation faster and works very well.
