Getting a blk was a mistake and this makes me want to boycott Leica just by principles. I think we will look into selling our blk scanners.
I will be fair to Leica in this. From day one I never used ReCAP, as it sucks at Registration, and should never have been used as a registration engine. That was an AutoDesk thing (BLK360 was an AU thing from day one, and then dropped, so Leica picked up the pieces to support users). Register360 BLK Edition, is only $1400/year (Canadian) since the price increase last month. There is still no dollar for dollar value scanner and software combination on the market that completes with BLK360. Especially when you consider you can integrate with Matterport plus have the IR values for certain aspects when necessary. It definitely isn't a do all scanner, but there is absolutely no Unicorn Scanner on the Market, and as I say to anyone, a BLK360 is a great first scanner, and for many, it'll be the only one they require, and for others, it'll always have a place in the workflow, and it is even great just as a secondary scanner. We often scan with both the BLK360 and a C or P series scanner. We get the super accurate PointClouds from the C and/or P series scanner, and then you get a little Redundant check and QA/QC from the BLK360 scans, and also color images. For a good operator it is absolutely no issue to run the BLK360 and C or P series simultaneously. It is a fantastic solution with inbuilt QA/QC and redundancy. Personally I hate visiting any job with only one Scanner. Having a BLK360 along with you on any scan mission is always an asset and provides invaluable security.

We were doing the Recap - export e57 complete - Register in scene 5.5 route (it keeps the 360 image data), we didn't register in recap.
We only used the blk360 (we own 2 of them) as a loaner scanner, that we could give engineers as a carry on for SMALL projects, we didn't want to loan a faro scanner as it is not as easy to use or cary, we would rent the blk per small projects and it was working well untill we now had to pay for a register360 license. We bought the blk360 BECAUSE we could do the recap to e57complete to scene 5.5 route and we had no software upkeep, no we have to pay for a register 360 license and we can't even export the 360 pictures. We use one of our 2 SX10 or our 6 Faro scanners for bigger jobs.

Ah. There the Rub.... Faro Scene... My nemesis... I don't mind using Faro Scanners, but will only register the FLS files in Leica or Bentley... I simply can't stand Scene. I find I can play and work alongside most users in industry With the exception of Scene. And as I say, I'll register FLS files, and we do it often, but we take them directly into Cyclone to register... every time I cross Scene in over a decade it just derails.

Hi all,

It looks like ReCap Pro 2022 quietly introduced scan image export, see images below. Seems to work best if you can export .RCP from Cyclone REG360.

Not sure if it is full quality or HDR capable but nice to see the ReCap introduce this option.

If anyone from Leica is reading this I suggest offering a discounted 'BLK Edition' PUBLISH licence as has been done with REGISTER. It's strange when an option costs more than the base software.

If you can export to rcp (with images) then you also can export images straight from reg360 because that requires publisher pro... But it would take so much time... and of course you still have the option to export the images (cubefaces) from exported e57 (structured setups).

That is generally true, but Leica lets you export .RCP from Cyclone REG360 BLK Edition without PUBLISHER.

Which is a great move on its own, until the user upgrades to an RTC, without looking closely at how Cyclone licencing is structured...

Which is a great move on its own, until the user upgrades to an RTC, without looking closely at how Cyclone licencing is structured...
i didn't know that, but it is strange... you have the option in the cheap version but not in the big brother... we only have full reg360 licenses.

Re: Extract BLK360 panoramic images?

I think its more to attract first time users, as we know the first hit is always 'free'...

While PUBLISH PRO is about the same cost of a REGISTER licence, I think there is an in-between PUBLISH licence available that allows .RCP export at a lower cost.

Though I think most people would be much happier paying just to unlock .RCP export and image export and nothing else.
