The BLK360 is coming by UPS, whose major European transit center is Koeln/Bonn airport complex.

Having left Basel, Switzerland at 18/7/2017 @ 10:45P ET, it was sent to Koeln/Bonn, Germany and left there 19/7/2017 @ 6A ET.

It is probably headed to the UPS major USA facility at Louisville, KY to arrive 19/7/2017. From our UPS experience, packages for HNL leave in the early morning EST and arrive in HNL @7A HST and delivered at 11A HST. This gives the day to get through US Customs on the 19th July and out of Louisville by early AM to HNL as predicted.

We will see if we know how the system works.

For those who are interested in the detail. If you are in EU it probably does not matter. The detail shows in the USA it will probably come into Louisville, KY and then to where ever you are.

It looks like we figured it out and are on track for tomorrow unless there is a major mess up.

IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE, BUT I HAVE MY BLK360, tripod, standard tripod adapter, 3 batteries, 2 chargers.

Two of my 3 batteries are now charging.

The thrill of opening the BLK360 shipping box is like opening my Leica M9 or M240 camera box many years ago, at approximately the same cost for the Leica M240 + Leica 50mm Noctilux f0.95 lens.

I do not have the time now to describe the last 24 hours, but I will when I have additional time, since for some it will save a significant amount of potential hassle that I went through. Maybe add some photos.

Unfortunately, because of other pressing events, I will probably not have the time to run through the work flows of comparing the BLK360 to our Z+F 5010X and Riegl VZ400i for at least a week or two.

I think to make a question that interests many ...

Do some non-commercial photography of this BLK ...
And we would like to see it in normal use .. a scanning of your office or almost being able to share ...

We are all curious!

I have our BLK360 running with our iPAD PRO 12.9, but currently too busy to show anything of significance besides a few single test scans.

Maybe tomorrow if I have some extra time.

Unfortunately, the only documentation that I have found is located in my ReCap Pro 4.2.1.7 pull down discussing ReCap Pro Remote. The only function of the ReCap Pro Remote seems to capture the scans files from the BLK360, view a topdown view of the scans, and the stitched spherical images. As of now I do not think you can view 3D point clouds on the IPAD PRO (at least I have not figured it out). Apparently the HDR and Thermal imaging are not activated until at least the next firmware upgrade. The imaging is still under going additional refinement, since a black circle appeared above the BLK360, which might have resulted from a low ceiling.

I was able to transfer a single scan that I tried from the iPAD PRO2, by connecting the USB cable to a PC running ReCap Pro and you can see the scan and image.

Since I am a battery guy (we have 10 Z+F batteries and 4 chargers for two 5010X scanners) I suggest 3 batteries and two chargers for the BLK360 because charging takes some time and I like a 100% charged battery in a scanner and two spares also 100% charged when I go out on a project.

I have been at the Hawaii Convention Center (HCC) recently and decided if I have some extra time I would do a few scans with our BLK360 in a testing mode since it was my understanding that all the components need additional refinement at v1.0.

I had hoped that someone else that received their BLK360 earlier would load some screen images of testing sample scans on LSF for other to see.

SO HERE ARE SOME SCANS:

General BLK360 parameters:
Color=on
White Balance=auto
Exposure=Auto

7-23-2017 7-59-27 PM.jpg

7-23-2017 8-07-04 PM.jpg
7-23-2017 8-07-51 PM.jpg

At this time, I prefer not describe the operation of the iPAD PRO and the BLK360 since they both are undergoing additional work to improve their performance.

These scans were not operated under optimal conditions with 5,000 people moving around at the HCC.

I will not have time to run the BLK360 with Cyclone 9.1.6 until maybe next week.

Dennis,

What was the scan time difference in medium and high quality?

the "quality" is actually a typo. Quality on the settings means resolution. The quality is the same for all scans.
