Unified point cloud from Cyclone import into Recap

Post by zullrawk »

Hi all, can we get rcp files with mirror ball if importing registered point cloud (unify) into recap?

For info, normally our site consist of 150-300 scan stations, and we use BLK360, Leica C10 and Leica P40. All registered manually using visual alignment in cyclone. The problem is to view the final product in rcp format with mirror ball for end user.

Thank you

A unified rcp point cloud does not contain mirror balls or any other information related to individual scans.
I don't know if Cyclone can export a regular rcp project (containing the individual scans) but there is a workaround.
Try exporting the registered project as .e57 files so that each scan becomes a separate file.
Then create a new project in Recap, import the .e57 files and skip registration.
Now you should have a standard Recap project with mirror balls etc.

no you can still register in Cyclone
, you just cant unify if you want mirror balls and other information. Instead of unifying just export in e57 or ptx format and then you can import that into recap (it will all be registered) and have the mirror balls you are looking for

Thanks for the suggestion. I already try it but when importing in recap, the point cloud still need to be registered. Any example or solution for this one?
Thanks in advance :D

I may be misremembering as its been a while but I believe if you skip registration you will find the setups are already in place.

Also worth noting your Real Views won't exactly have the quality you may be expecting when converting from cyclone to recap. Often times the images get a blurred effect to them and in general are kind of Cartoon-ish. The image doesn't really get transferred its more of an in filled colorization of the points with hard black lines separating objects.
