A guide to automatically register 3D laser scans

Post by davegrrr » Thu Feb 07, 2019 10:33 am

You asked and we delivered!

Here's a short video to guide you through using Vercator software version 2.2 to register laser scan data. This animation will take you from loading data using the scan network tool to configure your job and on to automatic registration. Then simply export a wide range of file formats for use in your favourite post-registration software, including: xyz, ply, e57, pts, las, las.

Looks like some major improvements!

I can't remember from the brief bit of time i had to play with it if there is a slicing tool to visually check alignment?

Also, Charles mentioned that you may be looking at the possibility of importing an e57 made up of multiple scans (basically a complete export from recap). Is this a feature yet?

Will it be possible in the future to import a .BLK file?

Thanks Brett.

We currently calculate a default slice for the coarse registration and you can take the final data into any tool to analyse the result. However we are working on major improvements to the user experience that will improve this greatly and are always open to suggestions!

Thanks for your previous feedback on this. We are working on multi-scan e57 but it is not in the current release. We will be having an announcement soon about some exciting developments of which multi-scan e57 support will likely feature. We would love to support the blk format but that is only within the gift of Leica to provide.
