poor quality in Realworks after registered

Post by yeyo »

Hello all.

I am working on a big project. We scan a bulding with around 150 scans. Every single scan looks very nice with high density point and quality. But after register all of them the quality and density seems very poor. Any one know why it is happen?

Thanks

Try resampling your cloud with a lower resolution.

Also, this problem may occur if your laser scanner mirror was dusty or something like that. Check the scanner. Create more detailed sampled scans.

I tried sample and it´s looking little better but not enouh, and don´t think so it´s a dust o problem of the scan because like I said all single scan individually are with very good quality. Thanks to reply both of you

When you importing (*.fls, *.zfs....) or using already prepared scans (*.tzf) from TX8, first that you need to create sampled scans:

1. Click "Create Sampled Scans" in the Home registration ribbon menu.

2. What sampled scans resolution you need, you should know before, what you will do further.

A) Only for registration quality assurance
B) Further modeling in "Production" space.

If you will do only registration QA, lower density is enough (1cm - spatial sampling and "Filter by range").

If you need to have the density in millimeters in production space. Go to menu: support/preference / Units and set "Decimal places -> 3 ). Then go to "Create Sampled Scan" and choose "spatial sampling" 1-10mm, and you will have the desired density for each scan station.

/////
Our team workflow:
1. We importing FLS scans from FARO or using already prepared TX8 data in *.zfs data format.
2. Creating sampled scan data with density (1-2cm) only to check registration.
3. Selecting EXPORT -> Convert TZF scans....(Gridded E57, PTS, PTX) ->E57 file format without sampling by step (to get full resolution scans).
4. Creating UNDET project for further working in AutoCAD, Revit, Ares Commander and SketchUp.

P.S. Some times we are using "Sampling by Step" function when we are doing higher density scans only to collect distant targets.
