Mini Tripod Dolly
Mini Tripod Dolly
Does anyone have a solution that's as small as a Tripod star... But has small wheels so it can be pushed around a flat factory floor? It also has to be as sturied as one of the these... But not as big because it has to be very portal, light and not take up much space in the van... If not I may have to make one but I just wondered if anyone else had such a solution?

Re: Mini Tripod Dolly
We sell one on our online store - I'm not sure if it will meet the specs you need but here's the link!

We also sell a "foldable" one:

Hope this helps!

Re: Mini Tripod Dolly
These wheels are too big. I'm wanting a smaller solution but some great ideas to make one here.

Re: Mini Tripod Dolly
Hi Phil,
We have a unit, probably similar to what you are looking for.
Not sure where we acquired it from but its been well used over the years, originally I think it was for a heavy-duty telescope but we purchased it for our Scanstation2.
- The wheels are rigid (the typical supermarket trolley type),
- All wheels are lockable for securing at each setup,
- Height of the unit is 160mm,
- The effective radius for the tripods feet is approx. 530mm,
- Plus It also folds up for easy transporting.
Its something we normally offer as part of our weird assortments of 'accessories' available with our scanning Hire kit, so happy to loan it out seperately if it helps.

Re: Mini Tripod Dolly
We used a camera dolly purchased at B&H in New York City. It was sturdy, folded up and had wheels that locked. Drawbacks-it was heavy. And I want to say it may have been a Manfrotto under $500.

Re: Mini Tripod Dolly
I have a Manfrotto 181 that is a bit heavy, but has a central locking foot pedal that saves time when relocating the scan position. I think the extra weight is not a liability. I found it used on Ebay for ~$75 US, with hardly a scratch. Finding a bag for it, took some time.

Re: Mini Tripod Dolly
Received unit today. It is exactly what I wanted.
Sturdy, built like a tank. Wheels are large and roll nicely.
Some minor tweaking needed where the tripod tips meet the dolly, but very minor. Other than that, perfect.
