Testing a Raspberry Pie 4 capturing data from a Velodyne VLP-16 and running the motor. Pie's don't have a real time operating system so the stepper is not as smooth as needed. Also there is no real time clock in a pie so it never knows what time it is unless connected to the internet.
Time to add a Arduino for the motor control.
Test lasted 6 minutes and the unit panned 1 degree per second. Captured 56 million data points.
