I think you need to make a distinction between scanner hire and scanner with operator hire.

There are a few other company that do hire the kit with-out operator but its rare.

Scanner producers will also hire to trained users but I hope you can appriciate laser scanners are still expensive bits of kit so they can't have them sitting on shelfs waiting for a hire.

We hire our kit out but as Steve mentioned its normally with an operator. We would hire to competent users without an operator but only once a working relationship has been developed.

I may be wrong but when hireing kit with an operator I would say that the insurence stays with the owner, without an operator it would be the responsibilty of the the hirer.

We have some standard T & C's which we use that are basically the same as any other equipment hire.

Whilst the equipment is with the customer they are fully liable for any damage that occurs. If we are hiring with an operator then this can change but it depends on the environment we are scanning in eg. offshore / onshore etc etc.
Kind Regards
