Removing people from WebShare views

Post by berdindc » Mon Nov 11, 2019 3:21 pm

Sensitive client, does not want people to be in the SCENE Webshare view. Removing the 3d points does not seem to carry over to the web-share view.

Is there a way to blur faces or otherwise make folks unrecognizable??

Export images out > photoshop > Reimport is all I can think off. Otherwise use the picture retake option if available on the scanner at the time of scanning.

I did not capture photos. So these are all B&W "images" created from the point cloud. I was hoping there was an option with Webshare itself to create a text box.

I've had this come up on a large project recently - unfortunately I couldn't find any reliable automatic tools for this, so the images were tediously blurred manually in Gimp. Motivated to never repeat this exercise, I've set about developing a tool to automatically blurr faces using machine learning.

I'll post any updates to this thread.

350 scans here, so I can imagine the pain. The odd thing is, with the 130x is that it inverts skin colors! I don't understand that.

If its intensity, can you cut the people out in each of the registered scans, export them all then re-import? Then create the webshare.

When you create the Webshare, just dig into the root folders and pull up the pano images that are being used. No need to export from Scene. Take those images into any image processor and blur the faces. Yes, it will be manual, but so long as you don't change the format of the image and simply re-save with same name in same location, you can do whatever you want to the image. I tried this a long time ago by swapping some images and it worked so although I haven't tested this particular workflow, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I haven't used any of them so can't make any recommendations, but there seem to be quite a few automatic tools for doing this sort of thing on photos. Just one example from my first page of search results:

Another (manual) way to do this is using the Quick View or Planar View in SCENE.

Disadvantage: This will make the area black in the image, instead of blurring it.
Advantage: This will also delete the 3D information of the selected area.
  • Open Quick View or Planar View on the scan.
  • Create a selection, e.g. using the polygon tool.
  • Right click on selection > Scan Points > Delete.
Related hint: If you want to delete only the 3D information, but not change the image, use Scan Point > Filter > Distance Based... instead.
Set the values to Min = Max = 0.

After modifying the scans, do another SCENE WebShare Cloud export + upload.
