QA tool to inspect cross-section of pipes, ducts and conduits released

Post by neeravbm »

Hi all,

We have just released a new version of the Scan To BIM Revit add-in with following improvements:

1) We have added a QA tool to inspect cross-section. To use it, click on any pipe, round duct or conduit. The add-in will create a new 3D view oriented so that you can view the cross-section. It's a much easier way to check the fit of the pipe with the point cloud. Just make sure to delete this newly created 3D view at the end when you don't need it.

2) Along similar lines to #1, when you extract a pipe, round duct or conduit, the default 3D view that shows in the popup is such that you are looking at the cross-section. You may still need to zoom-in slightly (we are working on fixing this), but it's much easier to navigate and control that before.

3) We have added "Show only previously used pipes" checkbox in the pipe extraction popup. If the pipe you extract is close to the diameter of a previously used pipe in the project, then this checkbox will be checked by default. As a result, you don't have to scroll down the big long list of all the pipes to select the pipe that you want to add.

4) Previous versions of the add-in recognized a point cloud only if it was directly inserted into the Revit file. It didn't work if the point cloud was inserted into a linked Revit file. This has been fixed. Now the add-in will work even if the point cloud is inserted into a linked Revit file.

5) Now you can extract multiple walls without clicking the wall extraction button multiple times. Just press Escape if you don't want to extract any more walls.

Feel free to download the free 30-day trial of the add-in from https://scantobim.xyz.
