C10, scanning areas at hi-res

Post by tbwester »

One of the great features of the C10 is its ability to scan small areas at high res within the 360x270 full scan

I use the laptop to control the scanner. Right now, I use images to determine where to place my scan windows. But what if I don't have time to take imagery? I'd like to be able to do a quick 360 scan, and then highlight the areas that I want to scan at hi-res via the intensity image, not the rgb images.

Is that possible in cyclone scanner control?

Yep it's possible on the laptop and the scanner.

Just don't take images and do the scan.

Just need to select scan and not scan+image on the scanner.

Matt,
Yes, I understand how to just scan 360.

but for the hi-res areas, how do you know where to put the window? right now I use the image to know what area I am scanning at hi-res. If you don't take images, its just a big black window.

Then yes, you could just do a 360 scan as you say (low res) then highlight the areas you need from that.
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

Yes, but the intensities dont show up in the "globe" scanner control interface, just images. I guess that is my question, how do I get intensities to show up.

When I pick targets for acquisition, via intensity colored point cloud, I do that within a model space.

Hi Thad,
Im sorry if ive got the wrong end of the stick here...
Is there a particular reason why you can't use the C10's own screen?
We need high res areas in our RTC's...
Scan 360 low res with images. Switch to select by video and highlight the req areas from the C10 screen.
Scan small areas in med or high res as needed.

Hi Colin,
Yes I could do that. But I like to use a laptop in the field, it is just my preference. But thats a good idea; I could switch in between the two interfaces for this one purpose.

Tim helped me out, he is the master I the apprentice :)

from the scan control - image - show modelspace. Uncheck images if you have them.

Thanks!

Nice one Tim :D

I just remembered and was about to post... been a while since I used a laptop in the field. It was always an easier way to work that way and see your data as you go.
