Controlling a C10 from a laptop...

Post by County Scanner »

Hey guys, just wondering what are the best programs to control a C10 from a laptop. I must be missing something... I mean I can control with ease from a ipad or iphone using "Pocket cloud" rdp but I'm not to sure if its the wrong app/program or if its a module that needs to be purchased through our Leica rep.

I imagine this has been posted a few times prior to mine but am unable to find any relevant postings.

We are using a windows xp os laptop and do have the Windy31N wifi usb stick. Can this be controlled through wifi or is it through the cable thats provided? We cant even get our cable to comunicate with the scanner to laptop.

Anyhelp is greatly appreciatted

Should be the cable supplied with the scanner. Just plug it in, boot up and wait to get a connection.
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

If you have a cyclone license, that is the best way to control.

Assuming that your laptop has WiFi you should be able to connect to the C10 through the data cable or wirelessly w/ the Windy adapter. You can perform basic controls similar to the ipad controls you mentioned through a web interface. Use a web browser to navigate to the IP Address of the C10.
The most powerful remote control is through the Cyclone Scan interface but this does require a license for the "Scan" module. Whether or not this is worth it to you depends on how you use the C10 and your preferred Registration techniques. It is (IMO) much easier to perform traverse functions and target acquisition(especially at longer ranges) with the Cyclone Scan. The extra screen real estate vs. the on-board controls doesn't hurt either.
