Faro Focus 3D - Temp limits
Faro's manual says 5 - 40 degrees C. What is the coldest weather you have successfully scanned in? I have an upcoming job where the temps will be down to 0 degrees F. Thanks
Jared

Re: Faro Focus 3D - Temp limits
This came up at the Faro user conference. The Focus 3D is fine to -15 deg C.

But probably in case of any problems it won't be a warranty case.
Sure, If it matter.

0 deg F is -18 deg C if out doors you may need to add a wind chill factor.

Re: Faro Focus 3D - Temp limits
The two extremes for me have been just below 0°C (light snow) and +35°C (direct sunlight).
I guess these are not much of an extreme, but perhaps I'll be pushing it this winter.

Re: Faro Focus 3D - Temp limits
Hi all.
The comment about warranty is correct, of course .
On the other side: as long as the scanner starts up with a body temperature within spec, you should not expect bigger problems. Once the internal computer is running, it produces sufficient heat to keep itself warm.
Just do not keep it in the freezing trunk of your car over night and start it then. Also, in a break, don´t let it sit on the tripod in the chilly wind whithout having it run.
Best regards,
Oliver Bürkler

Thanks guys. Don't worry, I don't leave it in the car overnight and we don't take breaks when scanning!

How about other scanners? I've used the SS2, around -10 deg C with an insulated cover, but it seems to struggle and crash more often, and sometimes doesn't make it through the "warmup". I haven't had luck with the C10 below -5.

We sold one of IMAGER5010 in Russia. Normally IMAGER works from -10 deg. But our customer worked some hours at -15-17 deg without any serious problems. There is only only problems - battery life and slow screen reaction.
