Blk360 or Faro S120

Post by JonMag » Thu Jun 06, 2019 6:26 am

Hi everyone, I'm new to the scanning world and I have the opportunity to buy a Blk360 or a Faro S120.

The 2 units are used and sell the same price. The Blk360 is from 2017, the Faro recalibrated in 2017. The Faro comes with a Scene licence, the blk360 comes without software.

I read some article on the 2 units, the Faro seems more reliable but seems more fragile. I read many times that the Blk360 is a "toy".

I 'm little bit lost...

Thank you for your advices.

I would advise that you ignore the BLK and go with the Faro, for a number of reasons:

1. It's the same price.

2. It's got software with it.

3. It's a way better scanner in terms of images, scan quality and usability.

4. Scene software is actually easier to use that register 360, which is what you would need to bring in data from the BLK.

5. The BLK is a toy.
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

Thank you for the reply.

I've read somewhere that the Faro S120 have frequent hardware problems and that the repair is very expensive.

Do you heve some informations about that?

Thanks again.

I would imagine that a hardware issue with a BLK would be just as expensive. As long as you have some kind of customer cover in place with the manufacturer you should be ok.

The FARO S120 was built in 2009, and we are running out of parts for it, because it is 2 generations ago for our scanning line. If you are looking to purchase a scanner in this price range, I would recommend the M70. This is part of our latest line of scanners and is in that same price range.

So you think the M70 is better than the BLK360? What is the difference with the S70?
For the price range i'm talking about 10-13000 euros, is it possible to have a M70 for this price?

Make new replacement parts or make available good parts from scrapped units! ;) Is there a worldwide database for working parts?
