BLK360 turn color images off
Hey,
Noticed that the newest leica app wont allow us to turn off the color image capture. This is a huge bummer as it adds the extra time for each setup.
Is this real, or just some bug? I'd really like to be able to turn off the image capture, or at least have the option.

B/W intensity images are often sharper as well.tbwester wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 9:13 pm Hey,

Re: BLK360 turn color images off
my understanding from Leica at the UK HDS User day was that even if you don't capture the images it still has to do the image "pass" as its also capturing the other sensor data etc..so there wasn't actually a time saving..
But ive not used extensively!!

When the Leica app was initially launched (ipad app to control BLK), it had an option to turn off the color photos. That option has been removed. Its a bummer it was removed. I understand all the technical stuff and how the photos and tilt sensor are integrated, even so, I still would like the option to not take photos every time.
For example, above the ceiling work photos are not very useful...

Re: BLK360 turn color images off
In reality, the NO FOTO option is present both on the Recap Mobile to control the scanner from IPad and on the "single key" programming on the iPad.
So you CAN NOT take photos .. but the time saver is really small (20-30 seconds) ..
In fact, even without photos, the blk360 does the same steps (rotations in steps with short stops) that makes when you take photos.
It's really frustrating that you can not save all this time!
On many occasions time is precious .. and photos are not needed.
I hope this is a bug and that Leica solves the problem as soon as possible

Re: BLK360 turn color images off
We do not see the button anymore on the leica app. Previously we saved 1.5 minutes to turn the color photos off.topogeo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 12, 2018 6:38 pm In reality, the NO FOTO option is present both on the Recap Mobile to control the scanner from IPad and on the "single key" programming on the iPad.

When you want color, it looks pretty nice:

"Popular YouTuber and trained cinematographer Matt Workman has created a very practical and easy to understand video about Leica Geosystems BLK360. Bottom line – he thinks the BLK 360 has many applications in the film industry, particularly for pre-production . With over 180,000 followers of his YouTube channel his opinion counts.
In the video he explains the device and demonstrates how to operate it. The device scans real-world environments to scale and also gives the user accurate lighting and color information. With a few clicks, Workman demonstrates that the BLK360’s data can help him 3D-model shots, sets, lighting and props. As a result, production teams can save valuable time and avoid costly mistakes before showing up to shoot"

This is true, we have one and that is the way it works. It only saves you memory space and file size not field time over STANDARD image setting
