Enter Level 3D Laser Scanner For Building Industry

Post by Fisher22 »

Hi All,

I work in the building industry and often need to utilise point cloud data to build models of the surrounding, built and natural environment with respect to construction projects.

I am considering bringing the 3D survey aspect in-house. The vast majority of the time these are only small projects where the scanner wouldn't need to be repositioned more than once or twice.

My question is, what is the minimum level scanner I can buy to suit my requirements? My primary concern would be the scan time. Ideally, I would like to be able to undertake a full 360 scan in under 15 mins (I have had a hard time finding info on practical usage of times of different devices online).

What I am realising is that I'm looking at $14,000 minimum for a unit (I believe that is my lowest end option - a refurbished C10). Therefore if anyone had any good advice given my requirements it would be greatly received. I would like to know whether there is a more suitable option for me even if it requires adding a little more cash? Similarly, any feedback on the C10 option would be great.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Kind regards,

Steve
