GeoSLAM Draw

Post by LeicaUK_RC »

I've just been having a play with the GeoSLAM Draw software, using data from the GeoSLAM Zeb-Revo. I must say I'm impressed so far.

Does anyone else use this software to create floorplans, sections, elevations, etc?

It looks like they got the tools and workflow right for creating basic floor plans from point clouds:
start with point cloud > cut a thin section > vectorize > clean up plan > dimension > export.

Is GeoSlam Draw only bundled with GeoSlam hardware, or can it be purchased separately?
-If so, how much?
-Will it import other point cloud file formats?
-It's part of 'GeoSlam Hub':
"GeoSLAM Hub, the successor to GeoSLAM Desktop software, will be officially released at the conference and trade fair being held September 26-28-2017 in the Berlin Exhibition Centre, Germany. GeoSLAM Hub enables truly ‘end-to-end’ data capture with users able to process, merge and output 2D and 3D deliverables all within the one software package." https://www.directionsmag.com/pressrelease/6876

Correction: It uses PointCab! 2/5/17

well, watching the video it looks exactly as PoinCAB 3d pro. We use pointcab to evaluate our Z+F raw file. we register our raw data in Laser Control, then build the PointCAB dataset files importing registered zfs file. but you can import a lot of different file format from different vendors.
answering your questions:
how much? take a look at the pointcab website \ pricing
other point cloud file formats? yes

It has similar tools to PointCab, but in a smaller, simplified package -has anyone worked with both of them?
I think this can be purchased separately but It might be best to contact your local reseller direct for a price.

I'm looking for the best (line) vectorizing tool out there. 2D is largely neglected with all of the attention going to AI, VR/AR, but 2D is still the deliverable that gets things built. I wish Scene had a plug-in to vectorize thin slices for plans/sections, but it doesn't. A reasonably priced 'smart' vectorizer that leaves 99% of the noise behind, would be splendid.

It is an OEM version of Point Cab, which is still a good product and backbone for hardware and workflows outside of GeoSLAM capture. An upgrade in the GeoSLAM catalog selection will "pump it up" to 3D Pro, but otherwise it is included in new Revos or the appropriate level annualized software support - at no charge!

As for the Vectorizer, just for the sake of mentioning one we found really sharp was in Pythagoras - which I don't sell or use in our operations, but we tried it and were pleased.

Go anywhere scanning AND spend less time at the desktop. Nice job, GeoSLAM.

It is the Pointcab modules. Pointcab is probably still the best software for zeb data.

Has anyone tried the colourisation yet? We got our RT upgrade yesterday and have yet to test it.

Just to clarify things:

-It is currently not possible to purchase it standalone, only in a bundle with GeoSLAM Hub.
-If you don't
"pump it up"
you can only import the open formats, so only e57, las/laz, ply, pts, xyz

In case you have a GeoSLAM Revo + Hub, you get the GeoSLAM Draw in the package having the non-proprietary exchange formats and some standard modules. One can upgrade to the GeoSLAM Draw 3DPro having all modules and all supported formats.
If you dont have a GeoSLAM Revo, go for a PointCab version.
