USIBD is announcing the establishment of a new Standards subcommittee: the Laser Scan Hardware Subcommittee.

This subcommittee is aimed at creating a consistent and standard consumer sticker for the specification sheets of hardware in the areas of terrestrial 3D laser scanners and handheld units.

All USIBD members are welcome to join, and all non-USIBD members with interest in this endeavor are encouraged to join USIBD to participate. Monthly meetings will be held, the first is on Friday, November 16th.

An excellent move. It would be great if some standardisation of spec sheets can be achieved across the main vendors.

Unfortunately, I doubt all will get on board as of course spec sheets are all designed to show the strengths of each piece of hardware.
