Hello All,
Nice quick and easy one... Can anyone recommend a good tripod for a laser scanner?
Best regards,
Sam

Re: Laser Scanner Tripod
Leica has a heavy duty one that we use for all our scanners. Seco has the same one. They are double locking.

Thanks Rikore,
Is the Seco one you are referring to the Trimax tripod? I have used them and they are good but very heavy.

Re: Laser Scanner Tripod
I have a Faro.
For portability I use a Manfrotto 028B, you cannot use the full extension possibility (too shaky) but it's a nice tradeoff. Perfect also for delicate floors.
As an alternative I have this 2 way tripod

Rather heavy, but very good and stable.

Re: Laser Scanner Tripod
It depends on your scanner.
For small ones that scan sufficiently fast enough, the camera tripod works well.
For larger scanners I'd recommend something more supportive, like what the others have already mentioned, or, if you're lugging it between positions, go for a lighter carbon-fiber Dutch Hill tripod.

It's expensive, but so is your scanner.
It is lighter, which helps on your carrying shoulder, the thermal coefficient of expansion is 3.5x better than steel, so direct sunlight isn't a problem and it is 3.5x stiffer than wood, so heavy weight is no problem.
Whatever you do, please don't use an aluminum tripod... especially in direct sunlight.
