Andy,

New version of the release uploaded this morning which now allows you to generate an Animation from Viewpoints as per your request.

Many Thanks

One of the new things in this point release is also the ability to duplicate animations in order to view them from different camera positions.

Here's a quick example... I apologise now for my lack of artistic directional skills.. (no avatars were injured in the making of this video!).

Hi Andy,

Here's a simple example of animating a clipbox with the new Animator software in Data Studio 2.0

Building on the new animator feature we've released a small update today which adds the following functions:

1) Super Sampling on video output (Rendering to a higher resolution before downscaling to video; smooths edges and improves quality of final video frames).

2) Ability to import camera paths from 3DS Max, Lightwave and Maya.

You can download the manual for Arena4D Data Studio here:

This is amazing guys, I continue to be amazed with the way you continue to listen to the community and incorporate innovative, practical and powerful solutions into your software. Congratulations!

If all of the point cloud/3D software developers out there were like you then we would live in some sort of strange utopia where our lives at the computer desk were unbelievably easy...

I've got this working on my laptop and it's one slick experience. It really opens your mind as to what might be possible in the future. I am also using a Logitech game controller to move through the scene. Once you get used to the controls, it's really easy to get around. Just look to where you want to go and push forward!

I am off to SPAR early in the morning, but I think that once I come back, it will be time for a quick video!

Eugene

Hey Mark,
amazing news having Oculus support! Will there also be HTC Vive support in the near future? Room scale will make this even more interesting...

Best,
Steffen

Hi Steffen,

We're very much directed by what our customers ask for.. so if somebody wants it we'll do it. At the moment the Oculus seems like the big player in the market and we've not come across anybody yet with any HTC kit. Should we do so then yes naturally we will build in support for it.

I wish there was a better way to show people what it's like using the Oculus with our point cloud engine.. but really it's something you have to try first hand to really appreciate.

We will have it on our stand at GeoBusiness next month for anybody who wants to come along and give it a go!

Mark
