Thanks,

Hello Jiri,
Have you seen this post about the Trimble RealWorks 11.2 release?
The Ortho-Projection and Multi-Ortho-projection tools have been improved to support all the point cloud rendering options available, including ambient shading.
Thanks,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
thank you. I use it often now. It brings out features in the orthophoto.
Well done Trimble!

Jiri,
I'm sure many LSF followers would appreciate your thoughts on RealWorks (as compared to Scene). Your images are outstanding! ~S

Re: Trimble Real Works Enhanced Ambient Shading in Orthophoto?
Thank you Scott,
what would you like to know? I use Realworks mainly for registration and it works for me better than Scene.
I rarely use any targets at all, and if then only for georefernecing my pointclouds. I rely heavily on tight registration using targetless methods. I have to make sure that when closing loops the accumulated error will be distributed correctly between the participating scans or groups of scans. I need a manual control to assign which scans register together and which do not. I want to see errors on individual targets when georeferencing. I found out Realworks does this better than Scene and I get better results and tighter registration especially on jobs with hundreds of scans.
There are some drawbacks to Relaworks. First it has no possibility of custom plugins. It has no edge filter to cut down noise, it doesn't produce anything like project pointcloud and exporting inside clipping box is pain. But I don't care. When finished with registration I export individual E57's and bring them to PointCab and from there to Archicad. I don't waste time with 3D pointclouds in Archicad, it has never worked for me.
Well I didn't care. To be true I recently got a Relaworks Scene plugin from Taglabs and started to import the registration from Realworks back to Scene. Now when the circle is closed I have Realworks registered original FLS files inside Scene or on its own to play with
