REALWORKS TEXTURED MESH

Post by Muleymuel » Sat Apr 01, 2017 4:25 pm

It seems texturing (colorising?) a mesh is possible, how is this achieved? The software is asking for a matched image to use for mapping texture. Where do these come from?

Hi Sam,

Yes, it is possible, but first You need the in-built camera images as follows:
For the whole project, in the Registration module, under the Edit menu tab, Create station images from TZF color.

These generation will enable you to fit these pictures onto the mesh.
If You want to fit external camera images, you need to fit them onto the cloud to get a 'matched' image. (Imaging menu)

Hi Sam,

Some matched images may already be present in the project, e.g., with Trimble SX 10 data. In which case they are visible in the 'Images' tree.
Otherwise, if you have color information from the TZF Scans, in Registration configuration, you can go to 'Edit > TSF Scan > Create Station images from TZF Color'. This will create matched color images in the station from the TZF scans.
If you need to first match a panorama to a 360° TZF scan, you can go to 'Edit>Open RealColor'.
If you wish to manually match an individual image acquired by a separate camera to your 3D dataset, you can import a JPG image (Import > Import Image), then in Production configuration go to the 'Imaging > Image Matching' tool. This will create a matched image that you can use for texturing.

I hope this helps.

Thomas
