remove moving traffic from pointcloud
Hi All
At our company we have started to work with mobile mapping solutions.
But in this scan, we have a lot of moving traffic. We got a few different scannings of the same area, so we have somnething to compare.
This scan is structured. Is it possible to filter out the moving traffic? im thinking, that the traffic isnt identical in both the scanworlds, so it should be possible to compare them and automatically filter out some of the cars and crosswalkers?

I don't know if there are any automated solutions but there was a plugin in CloudCompare called Sweeper and this lets you semi-automatically remove "traffic weeds". Wes Grimes was responsible for the development of this and as far as I know, it is freely available.

The "Region Grow Smooth Surface" tool in Cyclone is pretty good for this sort of thing!

Below is a short intro showing results from an App we developed to eliminate moving objects in scans. Have a look and PM me or email if you want to give it a try, have questions or are just curious.

In your ModelSpace create a fence around the desired target or area where you wish to remove the object from > add inside fence > create object, region-grow, smooth suface (defaults should be ok) > click the red X to delete.
Just be sure that you don't create a fence around anything else above that plane because it will remove anything that isn't on the ground plane

Nice. If this works as well as the video shows then I could live with doing twice as many scans.

Re: remove moving traffic from pointcloud
We use "region grow" a lot. We always get left with those triangular bits like the video shows. Most annoying, but way faster than anything else we've tried.
