Hi All
i am using the Recap V23 and have a problem with coordinate system differences between 3dview and Realview.
I had to use some points of detail (not targets) to fix a scan job to OS grid. This worked fine in Realview and puts everything onto the right grid and datum. When I move to the 3d view though coordinates are completely different and when i bring the job into Autocad that is the coordinates it brings it in. What am I doing wrong? not too long a list please!
e.g. coordinate of point in realview - 612575.681,167255.291,18.158 ie OS coordinates
same point in 3d view 1238468.415,274334.668,-1151.270 - definitely not OS coords!.
Cheers
Alan

Alan,
What file format are you using on import?
Are you setting a coordinate system output in recap or leaving it blank?

Re: Funny coordinate systems in Recap V23
Hi Guys,
We're having the same issue I think. After the scans have been registered and the OS coordinates applied to the targets, the coordinates are displaying correctly in the RealView but not in the 3DView. It's as though the transformation from local grid to OS has been applied twice for the 3DView, but only once for the RealView. We've been registering scans in Recap for about 7 or 8 years and we've never come across this before.
We're using Faro Focus3D scanners so we're importing .fls files. It's not a consistent issue, however, which is making it difficult to narrow down the variables. We've registered two projects from the same scanner this week, one of them was fine, the other had this problem. Both were registered by the same technician in the same way.
At one point we believed we had a solution. We removed all of the targets, taking the cloud back to local grid. The project was then loaded and viewed on a local grid, which showed the coordinates had came back into alinement. We then reapplied the targets which seemed to work. Sadly, this hasn't worked on subsequent projects.
We've also tried uninstalling/reinstalling Recap to no avail. I'm hoping someone here might be able to assist.

Re: Funny coordinate systems in Recap V23
Try rolling back to a previous version of recap. See if it does the same thing.

Re: Funny coordinate systems in Recap V23
Hi All,
I sent some of my data over to AutoDesk support and this was their response:
"Hello Bob,
thank you for sharing the point cloud.
I can recreate the issue on my side. I can say that it's due to a current unwanted program behavior where the point cloud loses internal transformation information. The transformation in the model happens when you change the origin of the point cloud or if you use targets in the project.
At this time, the only workaround is to remove the targets in the scans.
Our development team is aware of the issue and plans to fix it with the next update.
To completely avoid it, the only option is to revert back to Recap 2021 as you have already done it."

Hi all
Bob seems to have exactly my problem. Glad to know I am not going nuts.
looks like its back to Recap 2021 for me. Come on Autodesk from my point of view that is a major fault that needs to be fixed ASAP.
Thanks for your input.
