We have a number of clients who work in Autodesk and require the functionality that the "new" Autodesk object snaps offer.
(https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/ ... 0-htm.html
The documentation refers to "segmentation of the point cloud file during Recap processing".
We have not managed to successfully create a "segmented" point cloud that works with these snaps from data captured with the Riegl scanner. The data pulls into Recap fine - point clolours, intensity and normals display correctly but on use in Autodesk the snaps do not work.
Could a user or somebody from Recap assist here?
Is there a specific format we should be bringing the data in for the segmentation to occur?

Do you have the 3D Object Snap turned on in AutoCAD?
If not, type "dsettings", go to the 3D Object Snap tab and check the box to turn it on. You can also select which points you want to snap to (ie. node, intersection, etc)

Re: Segmentation of Point Cloud - Riegl Format
AutoCAD will only snap to 'structured' scan data - this effectively is data created from FLS/ZFS/PTX/PTG and some E57 files.
This is a limitation of AutoCAD that we hope to improve in the future. From Riegl scanners you'll need to get the data to PTX most likely.

i was just in contact with Riegl, about ptx export.
It should be back soon. The ptx interface was canceled in Riscan V2.0
