Vizualization software

Post by FocusTechnology » Mon Aug 31, 2015 7:00 pm

Hello everyone.

I need a good working vizualization tool to make a movie from my point cloud data. It should work with larger data.
Do you have any suggestions.

Regards

Arena4D hands down.

A couple of examples from my scans:

If you check the site you can find mode examples.

Easy to use, fast and powerful.
give it a try...

edit: forgot the link

Isn't it the 'Open source' section? ;)

The latest beta version of CloudCompare (2.6.2 - http://www.cloudcompare.org/) has a new plugin to create animations (as movie files). Its name is 'qAnimation' and it has been initiated by 2G Robotics (http://www.2grobotics.com/).

The workflow is quite simple:
  • place the camera in various places and create a 'viewport' object each time (with 'CTRL+V' or 'Display > Save viewport as object')
  • and then select all the viewports and start the plugin (the rest should be pretty obvious hopefully)
Here's the first video I made with it (quick and dirty):

Daniel,
I have downloaded the zip file, but when extracted the setup is a manifest file. How do I get it to run?

Regards Graham

Graham, with the archive version there's not setup file. You actually don't need to install anything. Simply launch the 'exe' file (this is what we call a 'portable' version).

Or maybe you have downloaded the FARO plugin instead? (I've just updated the download page so make things clearer)

Thank you for your fast reply.

Maybe there is some other software that could do this? Do you know any?

danielgm
I've already had a CC installed i've upgraded it, but for me isn't clear how to install qAnimation plugin from GitHub, could you explain it to me?

Regards
