Converting POD scans?

Post by mr_pablo » Wed Jun 08, 2016 10:45 am

I am looking for a tool that can convert a POD scan file to a more usable file (so I can use something like MeshLab or CloudCompare)

Is this possible at all?

I downloaded Bentley Pointools Viewer and that lets me open the file, but it cannot export it at all.

Hi,

You need Bentley Pointools. You can export to XYZ or PTS. You will have 30 trial days.

Any Bentley product that supports point cloud use can output pts.(Microstation and all of it's verticals such as Aecosim, Descartes etc) Or at least they could the last time I used it a few years ago.

If you have access to it, then "FME" by Safe software is an outstanding tool. Primarily for GIS use but it converts more file types than anything else I have seen. http://www.safe.com/how-it-works/
