Hi,
New to geomagic
Has anyone got a good workflow/ settings to mesh a large point cloud. The point cloud is a laser scan of an old wooden ship and we have been able to get a good mesh of a section of the ship but struggle to do the whole ship.
Can you produce a mesh of a point cloud in sections.
Any advice would be great

Hi Bill
This may sound strange but work backwards.
Work out what the mesh is needed for and how it is going to be used, you may find you need a lot less data than you first thought.
What level of detail are you after, every rivet in fine detail or a good overall structure to the object.
Is it inside and out, can this be split apart
Find out what your PC running Geomagic can handle remembering that a mesh is almost double the points going in
Try unifying the data in cyclone first 3-5mm is a good starting point, this will remove a lot of duplicate info.
Use the reduce option on import 25% 33% or 50% try them all and see the difference
Make sure the registraion is as good as it can be, Geomagic will take a lot longer and not make nice results if it is poorly registered.
Use the Geomagic decimation can also reduce the poly count without loosing structure.
Great results are possible
