CAD to .obj with texture

Hi community :)
I made a big CAD model from a point cloud in Geomagic Direct. Now I have to apply textures and export to OBJ file. The only solution I've found is to export to .obj, import in 3ds max and slowly apply texture one after another by Unwrap UVW Mapping. Does anyone know the different solution to this problem? Unfortunately exports to OBJ from Geomagic increase the amount of planes so it also makes it difficult to work. Export to .IGS is impossible because errors occur when turning UVW. Texture not need to be high quality but needs to "fit" (do not extend to the various triangles). The textures is from picture and from internet.

Welcome to the Forum Wojciech :D

Texture mapping is never a quick and easy thing to do in my experience. I have texture mapped in 3DS max using unwrap uvw and this is probably the best way to go. You can in more recent versions of 3DS max unwrap multiple objects to the same image if this helps.

Hi wojciech,
In 3dreshaper, you will find tools to apply textures onto a mesh, which you can then export to obj.
3dreshaper has a lot of overlapping functionalities with geomagic so I'm not sure you will want to invest in both tools! But, if you want to give it a try, do not hesitate to request a trial license :)
