Interactive 3D Model for Wildfire Forensic Case

Post by vislaw » Wed Feb 28, 2018 3:16 am

This is a 3D model built from 4,126 images flown manually at the site of a wildfire near Paso Robles, CA. We needed varying resolution for a number of locations and, thus, chose to fly a DJI Inspire drone. The total coverage is approximately 1000 acres. Photogrammetric assembly done with Pix4D.

We will be building an interactive model for use in court to be displayed on an iPad with a number of "hotspots" that, when touched, will pull up ground level imagery.

Nice work Mark.
What sort of ground control did you use?

Thanks for the kind words. Absolute accuracy wasn't critical for this project. I used a Trimble GEO XT to establish GCPs at the quadrants for each property.
