IMS Map 360 pointcloud and scanned vehicle

Post by Spwilka »

Ive recently gained access to IMS MAP 360 pointcloud extention, and I'm working on a scene where a vehicle needs to be able to move around in a roadway pointcloud that was scanned seperately.
The car pointcloud is scanned and cleaned in cyclone, and the scene is a separate pointcloud.
I want to load the scene pointcloud into Map 360, and then the car almost as an object that can be moved around the scene. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do that?

Alison,
I know this is possible in Cyclone, but its been awhile since I've tried in IMS Map 360. I reached out to a co-worker who is an instructor in Map and you may have to make a model out of the car and then import into Map. You would need the animation module to move it around.

What is the best way to go about making a model out of the car?
We do not own autocad, or any 3D processing software. The closest thing I have is CloudCompare that can make a mesh. But I was advised to make an OBJ file for import into Map360, but the program does not seem to accept an .OBJ file.
