Has anyone got any updates on this?
If not then someone I know has recently started working for Tekla, I could make enquiries.

Re: Tekla BIM Software
Tekla is a Trimble company - so that would be a good place to start. They don't make laser scanning very obvious... but I'm sure it's there.
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

Any news on this situation yet?
I need to help a client get some scanning into Tekla?

Re: Tekla BIM Software
A few years ago I imported a 3D scan file into a Tekla project. At about 6million points I found the performance of Tekla really became a problem. At that time you could import points in different elevation ranges and assign different colors to the various ranges. That makes using the data very difficult. To help with the performance problem each range is its own data file, so it can be frozen. When I tried this I was using Tekla V18. I have not tried it since then and we are at V21 now.
While I am not a big fan of Revit, I have to admit its functionality with large point files is immensely better.

Tekla has released the 'import point cloud' plugin for this topic, which can be downloaded from Tekla Warehouse.Phil Marsh wrote:Any news on this situation yet?

My supportive note on this, that the plugin will work similiar to a pointlist import, and unfortunately you will not recognize the intensity values - this means the visibility is only effective with thin point cloud slices.
We always recommend for our clients to create CAD drawing in any formats before importing it as a reference object into Tekla. Reference objects can be added to drawings later as well.

That's a pretty poor attempt by Tekla then on a point cloud engine. We had a similar issue with ArchiCAD and that was a nightmare to view any point cloud data.

Tekla is not for reverse engineering software, so in a few beliefs it is acceptable that it is not a strong option in it.
Archicad 19 handles smoothly the pointclouds in e75.
