Inverted Scanners and Compensators

Post by tcard »

Hi,

Does anyone know of any scanners that can be inverted 180 degrees with the compensator working? I imagine it is not as simple as I hope.

Cheers

Hi,
I do not know any scanner with inverted compensator...

It is possible to use an external compensator, but it is very difficult to get this systems calibrated...

I wished it were possible to scan upside down with compensator active!

My workaround is to scan a few leveled stations or to use a normal leveling device to get the inverted scans leveled. Sometimes it is enough to use a normal leveling laser, because it's possible to see the beam in the scan... Or some leveled spheres/paper targets!

Cheers
Stefan

Hi Tom,

We mount our scanner in all sorts of positions. We use know points to transform the data to the correct alignment.

Main thing to be sure of is that your scanner has been designed to do this without causing damage, don't mount it on a tri-brach, they are not designed for this. You may need a custom built mounting attachment.
