combining drone and terrestrial data
I have a Leica BLK360 scanner and a drone using Pix4D. In my current project, I need to combine the point clouds. I am using Cyclone 360 Register on my desktop. I have output multiple file formats from Pix4D to try, LAS, XYZ, etc. When I try to import any of them nothing happens - no processing, no error message, no lock-ups, nothing. I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has any suggestions for me. I thought maybe there could be a setting I'm missing, or maybe the file size is too large, but I can't find anything in either program's help files or forums.

So to cover the simple stuff -
After you drag and drop the files you have to highlight them with the check mark and hit that big red button on the bottom right of the screen (it has an arrow on it maybe?) to actually then go ahead and process the files. Otherwise it just sits there and stares at you and does nothing.
I imagine you have done that, but just in case....

Re: combining drone and terrestrial data
Reg360 currently doesn't support un structured data. you will need to use Cyclone Register to do this. I'm sure your local person can arrange a temp license for yourainscan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 14, 2018 7:42 pm I have a Leica BLK360 scanner and a drone using Pix4D. Recap would be the way to go I think. I have used structured and unstructured scans successfully in Recap.

Thanks, but nothing happens when I drag and drop or import. The button does not turn red. It just ignores me.Felix_the_Cat wrote: ↑Sun Jul 15, 2018 10:41 pm So to cover the simple stuff -

Re: combining drone and terrestrial data
I will try it in Recap, but I bought the Leica package because I was having so many problems with Recap.

Re: combining drone and terrestrial data
That is disappointing. I bought it direct from Leica and I think the Leica sales rep misled me. I was told Reg360 would do any basic importing and cleanup that Cyclone does, it just doesn't have some of the more advanced tools. I am admittedly a newb, and I suppose they'll say I wasn't specific enough in my questions. It is true that I didn't ask about specific file formats, but I did mention drone data. So glad I spent thousands on something I still can't use.stevenramsey wrote: ↑Mon Jul 16, 2018 10:04 am Reg360 currently doesn't support un structured data. you will need to use Cyclone Register to do this. Re: combining drone and terrestrial data
Looks like CloudCompare might work. Bit of a learning curve to get the two point clouds aligned, but at least I can see both of them in the same workspace.

I have access to Recap. If you have problems with CloudCompare, send me the point clouds and I can help using Recap.

Re: combining drone and terrestrial data
When I combine laser scans and drone photogrammetry I do no register them together.
I either use the same GCP net on both projects, or I register laser scans, and create GCP for photogrammetry from the laser scan project.
I then create the photogrammetry project and export both clouds.
I import the clouds in Arena for Rhino or Pointcab, so they don't need to be registered in the same tool.
